Senior Engineering Manager (AI Roblox Studio)

About the role
- Roblox’s engineering team is expanding rapidly, and we’re looking for a seasoned engineering leader to help us scale our AI-powered creation platform and team.
- As a Senior Engineering Manager within the Creator Group, you will lead the Studio Assistant team — driving the strategy and execution of our agentic AI system that powers creation for millions of Roblox creators.
- Your team owns everything end-end from the user experience in Studio, to the infrastructure underneath backend by a single cloud-native architecture: one harness, one tool set, one eval framework. Your work will empower millions of creators to plan, generate, and ship content faster than ever before
- At Roblox we move fast and ship code to production daily; your leadership will increase productivity by removing obstacles and keeping processes lean
- You will identify and mitigate risk and make sure the technology outpaces our growth. Roblox teams are inclusive, helpful, and have a strong sense of ownership over the things they build. If you have a desire to grow and learn, you will fit right in with our highly-skilled and ever-expanding engineering team
- Grow our organization by attracting and retaining the best talent in AI engineering and applied ML
- Own the technical strategy for our agentic AI stack — balancing speed, reliability, and creator experience
- Balance researching emerging AI capabilities with a practical approach to shipping them into the Roblox product
- Lead other engineers by example, through technical direction, and by authoring specs for new features and architectural improvements
- Put the Roblox creator community first and represent the company through thought leadership
- Versatile: You’re comfortable across the full stack of an AI-powered product: cloud orchestration, LLM integration and model routing, skill/tool execution, and creator-facing client experiences. You can easily adapt to any situation when the need arises and come up with the right solution
- Knowledgeable: You have a deep understanding of AI infrastructure — model serving, reliability, observability, and multi-step execution loops including planning, tool use, and recovery. You can evaluate tradeoffs, recommend pragmatic solutions, and bring a team of engineers to consensus. You also love to pick up new technologies as the AI landscape evolves rapidly
- Battle ready: You have experience defining architecture for AI systems at scale and are excited about the challenges of shipping agentic workflows to millions of creators. You can be hands-on and still define an architecture from scratch — model orchestration, tool execution, evaluation pipelines — and make sure it scales from early adopters to millions of users
- Building partnerships: You have a track record of working across organizational boundaries — aligning with partner teams on shared goals, navigating competing priorities, and driving joint execution on complex cross-team initiatives
- Strategic vision: You can identify high-impact opportunities, shape them into a roadmap, and get buy-in from leadership and partner teams to make them happen. You think beyond the immediate ask to find the right long-term opportunities for growth
- AI systems depth: Experience with agentic systems, LLM orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and the operational challenges of shipping AI features reliably at scale
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in large-scale software deployments with a proven track record of leading large teams (15+) and delivering highly performant technical solutions. Experience building or leading teams that ship AI/ML-powered products in production. BS in Computer Science; MS/PhD are a definite plus
- Team-orientation: You have a personality that invigorates the team around you and you are used to leading and growing technical teams in any situation
